Week #51 - 自行车人 (Bicycle Man)

This week flew by! We had transfers on Friday and I am staying in Pasadena for a 5th transfer. I am excited to finish Elder Lyu's training and continue serving in Pasadena. Our zone is almost completely different. We had some areas whitewashed and almost everyone has a new companion. I am a District leader this transfer and my district is very young. Our zone has a lot of faith so this transfer should be great. Our most progressing friend right now is Che. We call him bicycle man because when we met him on the street a couple weeks ago he was on a bike. Shortly after we contacted him we forgot his name, so he became bicycle man. The funny thing is that bicycle in chinese is 自行车(ZiXingChe) and his surname is 车Che so he really is bicycle man. He actually speaks better Korean than Chinese. He was born in China and then moved to Korea when he was very young. Because of this he can speak chinese but cannot read chinese so he uses a Korean Book of Mormon in our lessons. It really teaches me that everyone speaks the language of the spirit, because no matter what language is being spoken you can feel the Holy Ghost. Bicycle man will get baptized in the beginning of September. We have to go a little slower with him because of the language situation. This last week we had a great lesson with him and our member Adam Li. Brother Li has struggled with some of the same questions and doubts as Che is currently dealing with so they were able to connect.

Scripture of the Week: Alma 13:18
But Melchizedek having exercised mighty faith, and received the office of the high priesthood according to the aholy order of God, did preach repentance unto his people. And behold, they did repent; and Melchizedek did establish peace in the land in his days; therefore he was called the prince of peace, for he was the king of Salem; and he did reign under his father.
I like this scripture because it demonstrates that repentence leads to peace. Because the people listened to Melchizedek and repented, there was peace in the land. Sin and wickedness never brings peace. Many people spend too much time looking for happiness in a place they will never find it. It is only when we repent and change that we can find true and lasting peace in our lives.

Thats all for this week,
再见
